Oakland, CA, weather and temperature

Oakland offers better weather than San Francisco and the West Bay, with temperatures hovering around the 60s and 70s all year round and an average of 261 sunny days per year. The weather is more predictable, preventing locals from carrying hoodies for potential fog. The Oakland community strongly emphasizes shopping locally and maintaining revenue in the East Bay. With numerous small businesses to choose from, Oakland Grown, a local nonprofit under the Sustainable Business Alliance, supports small businesses. This makes Oakland an ideal location for relocating with big ideas and projects, as it offers a variety of shopping options and support for small businesses.

Unity Between Oakland's Black and Asian Communities

A meeting between Oakland's Black and Asian communities was held to promote unity following the shooting of Officer Tuan Le. Pastor Phyllis Scott, president of the Pastors of Oakland Association, emphasized the misunderstanding between African American and Asian communities due to stereotypes and misinformation. She noted that businesses are closing due to the Asian population taking over and the Asian population closing due to violence. Officer Le, who was shot and killed in December, was a police officer, provider, and protector of the Asian community. Calls for unity are becoming more important due to stereotypes of Oakland being unsafe. Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price and members of the Oakland City Council were present. Scott believes more meetings are necessary to unite both sides and help them heal.
